This page contains answers to common questions handled by our support staff,
along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and presented here
as questions.
Note: In these answers we will follow a few shorthand conventions
for describing user-interface procedures. Key combinations will be presented
like this: Ctrl+Alt+Delete, which means that you should press and hold
down the Control key, the Alt key, and the Delete key at the same time. Menu
selections will be presented like this: File->Open, which means that
you should open the File menu, and then make the Open selection.

- What is S.C.O.T.T.?
S.C.O.T.T. is a product designed to meet the needs for the small
business service provider. It will track service calls, service
history, customers, jobs, scheduling, and invoicing.
- How many service calls does it allow?
- Does S.C.O.T.T. do invoicing?
Yes there is an invoicing module in S.C.O.T.T.. The purpose
of this module is to invoice your customers, and apply payment
to any given invoice.
Note: This Function is not meant to replace
your accounting package.
- What are the system requirements to
run S.C.O.T.T.?
- Any IBM-compatible computer with Intel Pentium 2 processor
or higher;
- A Microsoft compatible mouse;
- 64MB RAM; more RAM recommended;
- A hard disk with 100 megabytes of free space
- CD-ROM drive;
- VGA or higher resolution monitor; running at 800 by
600 or better
- Microsoft Windows 98/2000 / XP operating system;
- Installed windows fonts; Arial, Courier New and Times
New Roman
- Where do I get support for S.C.O.T.T.
should I need it?
You are able to obtain customer support from our website. There
is a link on the website for which you will be able to email
your questions to a customer support representatives. Once received,
one of our support representatives will respond (usually within
48 hours). We encourage comments, issues and feedback.

- How do I purchase S.C.O.T.T.?
To order S.C.O.T.T. you have three options available to you
they are listed below.
1. Call Paradigm Technologies Corp. at 416-661-6676 and place
your order with one of our customer service Rep’s.
2. Print and complete the
order formand
fax or mail it back to Paradigm Technologies Corp. with payment.

3. Call Paradigm Technologies Corp. and request an order form
by mail. Once received, complete the order form and mail it
back to Paradigm Technologies Corp. along with payment. (Please

- How many versions of S.C.O.T.T. are
available?
There are two versions of S.C.O.T.T. There is the
standalone version which will run on one computer with one
user, or you can purchase the network version. The network
version run on a server and depending on how many licenses
are purchased is the amount of users able to access the
application.
- How much does S.C.O.T.T. cost?
The price may vary depending on the version purchased and
the amount of user licenses purchased. Call Paradigm at

- What hardware do you require to do
dispatching from S.C.O.T.T.?
S.C.O.T.T. does dispatching in the form of Text messaging to
cell phones. All you require is a mobile phone with the text
messaging functions.
- Does S.C.O.T.T. interface with any accounting systems?
- Each time I try to add new equipment it says there is already that
entry in the system but there is not. What do I do?
You have to run the "Data Maintenance" utility. To do this click the "data Maintenance" under the "File" menu. The Data Maintenance screen will appear.
Click the go button, it will run the data maintenance function. The next time you add equipment your issue should be gone.
- Can I print a customer report by zone?
This report is not available in this version of S.C.O.T.T., however you do have it listed with our development team as a report we would like to see in the next version of S.C.O.T.T.
- How do I export reports to Excel?
1. Run the report you would like to export. Make sure you click the option to preview the report as the export options are on the preview of the report.
2. On the report preview screen click the export button on the top tool bar.
3. Once the export button is click you will see the export screen.
4. Use the drop down button in the format fields and select Excel from the list.
5. In the destination field leave it as "Disk File"
6. Click the ok button
7. Then a screen labelled "Excel format options" will appear, select your formatting options and click ok
8. Select where you would like to save the file. It will now export the file to excel and save the file where you specified.
9. Go to where you have saved the file. Double click on the file and it will be your exported report from Scott to excel.
- What does it mean when I select a report and I
get a message reading " File name can not be located or found"?
When you get a message like this it is most likely a
mapping issue. Try running the report from another
workstation and see what the results are. If you can run the
report from another workstation with no problems it is
defiantly a mapping issue in which case please contact your
IT professional.
